Portraits
The portraits represent the different people involved in the human-elephant conflict. While developing the ecotourism programs, I wish to better understand the interactions that different people have with wild animals, specifically the Sumatran elephant. I also wish to understand the different points of view between species conservation, use of elephants for tourism, and the perception of the animal as a harmful species. A new portrait will be posted every fifteen days. While I will be concentrating on the human side of the conflict, I hope to share with you an overview of what it can mean to a local farmer, a guard, or a tourist guide to live with the iconic species such as the Sumatran elephant.
